A Cinematic Jazz Experience
A personal gift that shares the creative side of my music you may have never heard before.
The Sound and Story of Socrates’ Trial:
My band Socrates’ Trial formed out of what was supposed to be a simple, casual session. Yet the moment we started playing, it was clear there was something special happening. Each musician brought a completely different musical background: classical training, rock and metal energy, handcrafted synth textures, jazz roots, and a deep sense of improvisation shaped by performing everywhere from small clubs to major stages. Collectively, our members have worked with artists like Jacob Collier, Charlie Puth, Chris Bullock of Snarky Puppy, Bob Mintzer, and even appeared on NBC’s The Voice. That blend of influences created a sound that’s both expansive and intimate—perfect for the kind of story-driven, cinematic jazz I’ve always wanted to write.
The Cinematic Jazz Story Behind Anthem
Anthem grew out of my fascination with music that tells a story. I’ve always loved the emotional arcs and melodic sweep of film scores, and I wanted to blend that sensibility with improvisation, groove, and the expressive range of a jazz ensemble. The album is a nine-movement suite inspired by themes from the Declaration of Independence—not politically, but emotionally: longing, conflict, hope, resilience, and the courage to build something new. Each track flows into the next, creating one continuous narrative that moves from nostalgic synth textures to explosive ensemble playing to intimate, Copland-inspired string writing. At its core, Anthem is about the human drive for freedom, and this band brought that vision to life with heart, imagination, and soul.
If you’re ready for a cinematic jazz experience that blends storytelling, emotion, and improvisation into one immersive journey, I’d love for you to dive into Anthem.
